HUDSON — The Celebrate Hudson Music in the Park series, which brings talented bands and singer-songwriters to play free outdoor concerts in Hudson every summer, is returning this year starting June 4.
All the concerts are on Thursday evenings starting at 6:30 p.m. on the campus of the Southern Michigan Center for Science and Industry, 550 E. Main St.
The concert series focuses on acoustic music and singer-songwriters performing original work.
June 4: Diamonds in the Rust. This quintet is made up of two Michigan duos — Annie and Rod Capps, and Jan Krist and Jim Bizer — joined by percussionist and composer Alan Finkbeiner.
June 18: Judy Banker Band. Judy Banker is known for her hook-driven songs with intensively personal, evocative lyrics, and her singular, expressive voice. She combines compelling lyrics with traditional country instruments such as acoustic guitar, dobro, pedal steel, and banjo.
July 9: Flagship Romance and The Rough and Tumble. After years of friendship and crossing paths at numerous folk festivals, these two duos joined forces with their “Rough Romance Tour” in 2024. Following the success of that partnership, they’re bringing the tour to the Midwest this summer.
July 23: Jon Shain. Born in North Carolina and raised in New England, Shain is known for his lyrics, his fiery acoustic guitar work, and his musical style that combines improvised piedmont blues with bluegrass, swing, and ragtime.
July 30: Stone and Snow. Cincinnati-based songwriters Karen Bridges and Clint Thomson are the heart of a genre-bending Americana band with close harmonies, thoughtful lyrics, and a name that invokes mighty mountain landscapes.
Aug. 13: Reckless Saints. This Florida-based duo describes their music as “blue-twangled folk ’n’ roll.”
