ADRIAN — Children displaced or affected by an emergency may soon receive a fleece blanket, teddy bear, and fidget toys from several Lenawee County first responders, thanks to 50 “comfort kits” donated by Gleaner Life Insurance Society’s Legacy Arbor. The service group recently provided these kits to help soothe children during emergency situations in the Addison, Adrian, Adrian Township, Cambridge Township, Madison Township and Palmyra Township areas.

First responders are often called during moments of crisis when children may feel overwhelmed, frightened, and uncertain. The comfort kits are designed to provide a small sense of security and calm during such difficult times. Legacy Arbor members hope these donations will serve as a reminder that even in the most challenging moments, the community stands together.

“At Gleaner, we believe in giving back in ways that truly make a difference,” said service group member Todd Frederick, who suggested the program. “These kits are a simple gesture, but they can bring comfort when it’s needed most.”

Founded in 1894, Gleaner Life Insurance Society is a nationally recognized not-for-profit fraternal benefit society.
