ADRIAN — Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County is celebrating the 20th anniversary of its ReStore, marking two decades of transforming donated goods into affordable housing solutions for local families.
The store — located at 1025 East U.S. 223 in Adrian — is also extending its hours. The new hours are:
- Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
- Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Staying open until 6 p.m. instead of 4 p.m. during the week is intended to provide greater flexibility for customers who have been unable to visit during earlier hours.
“We’re excited to offer expanded hours that better fit our community’s schedule,” said ReStore director Anthony Sacco. “These additional evening hours make it easier for more people to shop, donate, and support our mission.”
The ReStore began in 2006 in a small, uninsulated cement block building on Treat Street. Recognizing the need for a more functional space, the operations moved in 2015 to the current storefront. By 2021, Habitat strategically expanded the facility to bring all of its operations under one roof.
“Every sofa, tool, and piece of lumber sold at our ReStore helps build a foundation for a family’s future,” Sacco said. “Over these 20 years, we’ve seen firsthand how the simple concept of selling donated goods can transform lives and strengthen our community.”
In its 16,000-square-foot space, the Habitat ReStore stocks all kinds of home needs, such as appliances, cabinets, furniture, doors and windows, light fixtures, hardware, and painting supplies. The majority of donations come from individuals in the community, but many items — some new as well as used — come from local retailers and building suppliers.
The ReStore accepts donations five days a week and also offers free scheduled pickups for larger items.
The ReStore serves a dual mission: providing quality, discounted home goods to the public while generating funds for Habitat for Humanity of Lenawee County’s homebuilding projects. It also helps the environment by keeping usable materials out of landfills.
Proceeds from the ReStore directly support Habitat Lenawee’s work building and repairing homes throughout the community.
