Former Adrian mayor Greg DuMars dies at 78

ADRIAN — Greg DuMars, a longtime community volunteer and leader in city government who served as Adrian’s mayor from 2011 to 2013, died on April 15. He was 78.

DuMars was a native of Pennsylvania and a veteran of the U.S. Army Reserves. He retired in 2002 after a 33-year career with General Motors, later Delphi.

He was a Rotarian and an elder at First Presbyterian Church in Adrian. He served on the boards of many community organizations, including Goodwill Industries, United Way, the YMCA of Lenawee County, Lenawee Country Club, and the local chapter of American Red Cross. He also served on the Adrian school board and as a city commissioner. He was elected as mayor in 2011, and served one term.
