Water main break near South Main tunnel disrupts service

City utility crews respond to the site of a water main break on July 5.

ADRIAN — A water main break near the South Main Street tunnel project disrupted water service for part of Adrian this afternoon, causing residents to experience low water pressure and a number of restaurants in the South Main area to close.

According to a statement from the city, the water does not need to be boiled, but may be discolored in a manner similar to what occurs after hydrant flushing. Anyone who observes discolored water is advised to run cold water until it runs clear.

The South Main Street McDonald’s was among the restaurants that closed due to a lack of water.
