ADRIAN — The Lenawee Community Foundation held its annual breakfast on April 23 at the Adrian Armory Events Center, celebrating accomplishments of the past year and recognizing several local residents for their service to the community.

“Our mission is to connect generosity with need in our community,” board chairman Dave Hickman said.

He reported that in 2025, the Lenawee Community Foundation took in $6.2 million in new gifts and distributed $6.4 million back into the community. That number was made possible by the strength of the organization’s endowed funds, which are invested in perpetuity with the goal of generating consistent income to fund community needs, both now and in the future. The foundation ended 2025 with a record high of $45.7 million in assets, Hickman said.

President and CEO Bronna Kahle reported that two of the foundation’s programs — the Imagination Library, which provides free books for children from birth to age 5, and Hunters Helping Lenawee, which facilitates donations of venison to families in need — marked 15 years of operation last year.

In addition to serving as a report on the foundation’s activities in 2025, the breakfast highlighted several people for community service through a number of award presentations.

Lenawee Leadership Award: Tom MacNaughton was the recipient of the 2026 Lenawee Leadership Award. This award honors people who exemplify the underlying principle that the future of Lenawee County will be determined by the quality of its leadership.

MacNaughton retired after a 31-year career with the Lenawee County Department on Aging, including 24 years as director. During his tenure, he championed innovative programs that helped older adults remain independent, including transportation, home repair services, and large-scale volunteer initiatives such as a communitywide leaf-raking program that mobilized students to serve seniors.

When serving as interim director of the YMCA of Lenawee County, he helped guide that organization through a period of significant financial hardship.

He is a lifelong runner and coaches cross country at Adrian High School. He and his wife, Christine, have been pivotal in organizing the annual Splash and Dash Youth Triathlon.

Stubnitz Award: Robert and Sandy Trevino received the 2026 Stubnitz Award, presented to people who demonstrate exemplary commitment through volunteerism.

Robert Trevino has spent many hours volunteering for the Department on Aging, serving as a tax consultant, trainer, and trusted helper for older adults navigating important financial paperwork. He has volunteered with meal deliveries for older adults, supported ministry efforts for migrant workers, and given many years of service to the St. Joseph campus of Holy Family Parish. He has been a part of Civitan and many other local service groups.

Sandy Trevino helped start the Adrian Community Preschool in 1967. For more than 25 years, she has regularly visited migrant camps to deliver food, clothing, and essential supplies. She has also been active with Civitan, Goodwill, the Maurice Spear Campus, and her church. She is committed to making sure that people facing hardship feel cared for and welcomed.

Incito Award: Tino Rebottaro was the recipient of the 2026 Incito Award, which recognizes people age 40 or under who are community leaders and have demonstrated a commitment to volunteerism and philanthropy.

Rebottaro is a 2004 graduate of Tecumseh High School. He serves on the board of the Greater Lenawee Chamber of Commerce and helped lead that group through a leadership transition. He has also been involved in Big Brothers Big Sisters, Housing Help of Lenawee, Neighbors of Hope, and Hospice of Lenawee. He works at Iott Insurance Agency.
