ADRIAN — The city of Adrian will be going through another leadership transition soon, as city administrator Chad Baugh said on April 24 that he has accepted another position.

Baugh, who was hired in August 2025 and previously served as director of police services in Canton Township, will become court administrator for the 35th District Court in Plymouth.

“This decision was not expected, but the opportunity to serve a court I have partnered with for nearly 30 years is both an incredible honor and a meaningful next chapter in public service,” Baugh said in a news release. “I am deeply grateful for the city of Adrian, its elected officials, community stakeholders, residents, volunteers, and the outstanding employees who work every day in service to this community.”

Baugh said his decision reflects a personal and professional opportunity to continue serving in local government while being closer to family.

“I have great respect for the people who serve Adrian and for the residents who care deeply about this community,” Baugh said. “While transitions can naturally bring disappointment, I believe this is the right decision for my family and for the next phase of my career.”

Baugh will not be leaving City Hall immediately. He said he plans to continue fulfilling his responsibilities through an orderly and professional transition period.

“My intent is to complete this process with professionalism, accessibility, gratitude, and respect,” Baugh said. “I will always appreciate the opportunity to have served the city of Adrian and wish the community continued success.”
