WOODSTOCK TWP. — Lenawee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-motorcycle crash on Devils Lake Highway just north of Waters Edge Drive around 11:30 p.m. Saturday, May 10.
Upon arrival, according to a statement from Sheriff Troy Bevier, deputies located a motorcycle that had crashed. Sheriff’s investigators determined that a 2023 Harley Davidson was northbound on Devils Lake Highway, in the 6900 block just north of Waters Edge Drive, when the driver apparently lost control. This caused the motorcycle to go off the road on the west side of the highway, striking a mailbox and throwing both the driver and passenger from the motorcycle.
The person who called 911 performed CPR on the driver until emergency medical services arrived, but the driver was pronounced dead on the scene by Addison Fire Department personnel. The passenger was transported to Henry Ford Allegiance Health for treatment of potentially serious injuries. The driver was a 34-year-old woman from Hillsdale and the passenger was a 36-year-old man.
The crash remains under investigation by the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team. Alcohol appears to have been a factor and neither the driver nor the passenger were wearing a helmet.
The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by Addison Fire Department, Somerset Fire Department, the Lenawee County Medical Examiner’s Office, and members of the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team.
