ADRIAN — The Lenawee County Agricultural Society recently announced the establishment of the Williams Insulation Fairgrounds Capital Improvement Fund in Memory of Walt Williams, a permanent endowment made possible through the generosity and vision of Walt Williams, founder of Williams Insulation. 

The fund represents a lasting investment in the future of the Lenawee County Fair, ensuring that generations to come will continue to experience the traditions, education, agriculture, and community spirit that have defined the fair for more than a century.

It is intended to provide long-term support for the Lenawee County Fair through the funding of capital improvements that enhance, preserve, and modernize the fairgrounds. Earnings from the fund will be dedicated exclusively to permanent infrastructure and facility improvements, helping ensure the fairgrounds remain a vibrant community asset for generations to come.

For Walt Williams, the Lenawee County Fair was never simply an annual event — it was a place where community, agriculture, and opportunity came together. Throughout the years, he became a familiar face at the fair and a steadfast supporter of its mission, continually investing in local youth through generous purchases of 4-H livestock and contributions that encouraged the next generation of agricultural leaders. He recognized that every auction purchase represented far more than an animal — it represented dedication, responsibility, perseverance, and the future of agriculture in Lenawee County. His support helped countless young exhibitors pursue their dreams while reinforcing the values that have made the Lenawee County Fair a cornerstone of the community.

“My father believed that success carried with it a responsibility to give back,” said Williams’ daughter, Wendee Bohn. “Williams Insulation has always been rooted in this community, and the Lenawee County Fair represented many of the values he cherished — hard work, agriculture, family, education, and neighbors helping neighbors. Supporting the 4-H livestock auction each year wasn’t simply a tradition for him; it was an investment in young people and in the future of our community.”

The Lenawee County Agricultural Society is the nonprofit organization responsible for operating the Lenawee County Fair and maintaining the fairgrounds at 602 N. Dean St. in Adrian.
