Motorcyclist dies after collision with delivery van

CLINTON TWP. — A 71-year-old Tecumseh-area man died from injuries sustained in a crash with a delivery van on the afternoon of Tuesday, Oct. 14.

Lenawee County sheriff’s deputies reported that the man was riding a motorcycle south on Tecumseh-Clinton Highway when he struck the van, which was crossing Tecumseh-Clinton Highway from Pennington Road heading into the subdivision across from Pennington. The man was transported to the University of Michigan hospital, where he died from his injuries. The driver of the van was a 26-year-old man from Oregon, Ohio, who was not injured.

Neither drugs nor alcohol appear to have been factors, deputies said. It is not currently known if the rider was wearing a helmet. The crash remains under investigation.

The sheriff’s office reported that deputies were assisted the Clinton Police Department, Tecumseh Police Department, Clinton Fire and Rescue, Lenawee County Drone Team, and the Washtenaw County Coroner’s Office.
