Adrian woman dies after Lyons Highway crash

FAIRFIELD TWP. — An Adrian woman died from injuries sustained when her car went off the road on Lyons Highway just north of Mulberry Road on the afternoon of Friday, Oct. 3.

Deputies with the Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office responded at 3:12 p.m. to a report of a single-vehicle crash with the driver having been ejected from the vehicle. According to initial reports, the driver, a 38-year-old Adrian woman, was traveling north on Lyons Highway when she went off the road and into the ditch, then struck a culvert. The vehicle went airborne and overturned, ejecting the driver, and then struck a tree.

The driver was taken to ProMedica Toledo Hospital where she died from her injuries.

The vehicle was a 1999 Jeep Cherokee and it does not appear the driver was wearing a seatbelt, deputies reported.

The crash remains under investigation by the Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team. The sheriff’s office reported that deputies were assisted by the Madison Township Police Department, Madison Township Fire and Ambulance, Fairfield Township Fire Department, and the Lucas County Coroner’s Office.
