RAISIN TWP. — Lenawee County sheriff’s deputies responded to a single-vehicle crash on Occidental Highway around 11:30 a.m. on Sunday, Sept. 14.

The crash occurred near Ridgemont Drive. Deputies reported that a gold 2008 Mercury was traveling south on Occidental just south of Gady Road, went through a curve, then went off the right side of the road and struck a tree. The driver, an 81-year-old woman from Tecumseh, was transported to ProMedica Hickman Hospital where she was pronounced deceased.

Speed does not appear to have been a factor and the driver was wearing her seat belt. The Lenawee County Accident Investigation Team was called to the scene and the crash is under further investigation. The Lenawee County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Raisin Township police and fire departments.
