ADRIAN — The city of Adrian’s compost site will open for the season in May, but in light of some recent nice weather — as well as some recent storms that may have left residents with extra debris to dispose of — the compost site will also be open on Thursday, April 10, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., for yard waste dropoff only.
Additionally, spring yard waste collection will take place on Wednesdays, April 16 and 23. Yard waste must be placed at the curb no later than 7 a.m. on both days listed. All yard waste should be placed in biodegradable and/ or compostable paper bags and must not weigh more than 50 pounds. Unapproved containers, including plastic bags, will not be picked up for collection.
Bundled branches and brush must meet the following guidelines:
- Branches and brush must be tied in bundles no longer than 3 feet.
- Bundles must be placed parallel with the curb.
- Bundles must weigh less than 50 pounds.
The compost site, located off of Oakwood Avenue, will open for the season on Saturday, May 3. Hours of operation are Tuesdays from noon to 7 p.m. and Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
All yard waste brought to the compost site in anything other than biodegradable or compostable paper bags must be removed from the bag or container.
