Christmas concerts in the Adrian area

Adrian College will present its annual Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 8, at 7 p.m. in Herrick Chapel.

ADRIAN — Several local groups are planning Christmas concerts in Adrian over the course of December.

The River Raisin Ragtime Revue will perform “A Ragtime Christmas” on Sunday, December 8, at 4 p.m. at Adrian High School, 785 Riverside Ave. The concert will feature popular Christmas songs performed in the ragtime style, and there will be a Christmas carol singalong. The Adrian High School Balladiers will join in the performance. Tickets are $20 for adults and free for youth 18 and under.

Adrian College will present its annual Service of Lessons and Carols on Sunday, December 8, at 7 p.m. in Herrick Chapel. The concert will begin with a half-hour of festive Christmas favorites. Then there will be a traditional service that includes a choral procession in candlelight followed by readings and carols. This concert is free.

Chiaroscuro, a local men’s choral group, will present its Christmas concert on Wednesday, December 11, at 7:30 p.m. in Holy Rosary Chapel, 1257 East Siena Heights Drive. Freewill donations will be accepted.

The Croswell Opera House will present a concert of Christmas music mixed with musical theater songs on Friday, December 13 at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, December 14 at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.; and Sunday, December 15 at 2:30 p.m. Tickets are $35 for adults and $25 for students, and can be ordered at croswell.org.

The Adrian Symphony Orchestra’s annual Christmas concert will take place on Saturday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m. in Dawson Auditorium on the Adrian College campus. Jazz singer Sarah D’Angelo will be the soloist. The evening will also feature the Adrian High School Balladiers. Tickets prices range from $25 to $39, with discounted rates of $25 to $37 for senior citizens and $13 to $20 for students. Tickets can be ordered at adriansymphony.org.

The Lenawee Community Chorus’ annual holiday concert will be on Sunday, December 15, at 3 p.m. in Herrick Chapel on the Adrian College campus. The concert will be a mixture of traditional carols and modern songs. Tickets are $15 for adults and free for kids.
