Lenawee County election results roundup

Following are the results of many of Lenawee County’s contested races in the Nov. 5 election. Results of local races can be found at electionlenawee.com.

Lenawee County Commission: The partisan makeup of the Lenawee County Commission will remain unchanged, with all three incumbents who were challenged in November prevailing. David Stimpson (R-Tecumseh) was re-elected over Bill Swift, 3,877 to 2,718. Terry Collins (R-Adrian) was re-elected over Andrew Winckles, 2,164 to 1,897. Jim Van Doren (R-Tipton) was re-elected over Jeff DiCenzo, 4,566 to 2,352. Three seats are changing hands but not parties: David Aungst won the Republican primary in August to replace Nancy Jenkins-Arno, who left the commission to run for a Michigan House seat; Beth Blanco unseated Dawn Bales in the Republican primary; and James W. Daly won the Democratic primary to replace KZ Bolton, who is retiring. The commission has an 8-1 Republican majority.

Michigan House races: Nancy Jenkins-Arno, a Republican, was elected to the 34th District seat. She served in the House before but was term-limited, and those rules changed after a 2022 referendum. She defeated John Dahlgren.

Most of Lenawee County is in Jenkins-Arno’s district. In the 30th District, which includes parts of the Britton and Deerfield areas, Republican incumbent William Bruck defeated Democrat Rick Kull. In the 31st District, which includes Macon Township, Democratic incumbent Reggie Miller defeated Republican Dale Biniecki. In the 35th District, which includes the city of Hudson, Republican Jennifer Wortz defeated Democrat Don Hicks.

Adrian school board: Michael C. Buku, Kayla Dunn, and Anita Lewis were elected to the Adrian school board, and Jay Marks was unseated.

Lenawee County Probate Judge: Catherine Sala was re-elected as probate judge, as Tamaris Henagan did not garner enough write-in votes to unseat her.

Onsted village president: In an unusual victory by a write-in candidate against an incumbent, Robert Schafer got enough write-in votes to unseat village president Sam Lafata, who was the only candidate listed on the ballot.
