Two high-profile redevelopment projects are scheduled to be discussed at the Adrian City Planning Commission’s next meeting, which will take place at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the City Chambers Building, 159 E. Maumee St.
The first is a plan to redevelop the site of the former ProMedica Bixby Hospital on Riverside Avenue into a residential community featuring about 50 single-family homes for rent. The developers, who have an agreement in place to purchase the property from ProMedica once demolition of the hospital building is finished, initially discussed their plans with the city commission in January.
The second redevelopment plan concerns the building at 136 S. Main St., most commonly referred to as The Seasons after the restaurant that used to occupy it. It was the site of a movie theater in the mid-20th century — first the Family Theatre and then Studio South — and has been vacant for about 25 years.
Both plans are being brought to the planning commission by private developers. The planning commission’s role in private development is generally limited to determining whether proposals comply with city ordinances and are consistent with the city’s land use plan.
Planning commission meetings are open to the public. Anyone who is interested can attend in person or via Zoom.
