TECUMSEH — A new studio, Creative Spirit Yoga, opened in Tecumseh in December, sharing a space with Infusion Performing Arts at 828 N. Evans St.

Founded by longtime Tecumseh yoga teacher Beth Flumignan, Creative Spirit Yoga was established with the goal to serve the community and provide a space where anyone, no matter their ability, flexibility, or financial circumstances, can practice yoga.

Creative Spirit Yoga has a sliding scale for classes, allowing students to pay the cost that works for their budget.

If a student’s finances change — whether they’re able to pay more and support Creative Spirit’s mission, or are struggling — they can make adjustments and continue to practice. Flumignan also has created a scholarship program for anyone who finds her payment options are not feasible.

Flumignan said “yoga for all” also means providing a variety of class options, with more on the horizon, that serve both experienced yoga students and beginners. Offering both flow yoga led from a mat and yoga that incorporates a chair opens up the practice for those who need the benefits yoga provides — mindfulness, breathwork, balance, strength — but who may not want to or can’t practice on the floor. Her goal is to provide mindful instruction and a warm, welcoming atmosphere.
