ADRIAN — When Beth Jessee decided that it was time to open a consignment shop, she didn’t have to go far to find a location for it. The name of the consignment shop is onefourseven on Toledo, which should make it easy to find.

“That’s the address,” Jessee said. “It’s just kind of a play on it.”

It’s located right next to The Jessee Salon Group, which is at the same address. That should make it easy to find, too.

The shop opened on May 1, and is a new venture for Jessee, who is in her 40th year of “doing hair.” Opening a consignment shop next to the hair salon seemed like a great way to get a new start.

“I’m kind of nearing the end of my hair career,” she said.

“I’ve always wanted to [open a consignment store], and I thought it’s now or never,” she continued. “I had the space and I thought it would be fun to do. It’s great.”

So far, Jessee has had a lot of positive feedback for the store.

“The biggest compliment I feel that I’ve ever had is that a lot of people walk in and say this looks like this should in Ann Arbor or Traverse City or Saugatuck,” she said.

The shop carries a wide variety of seasonal merchandise, such as holiday dĂ©cor items like pillows, wall art, ornaments, and vintage pieces. The store also carries wall art in sizes ranging from small to large, and includes both pictures and signage.  The furniture selection features new and vintage items including dressers, tables, a set of bunk beds, upholstered chairs and shelving. DĂ©cor items include mirrors, pillows, lamps, rugs, and other larger accent pieces. Smaller accent pieces include a wide variety of ceramic ware dishes, pitchers, pots, jewelry, word art, some pet items, and many other items that her customers might find to be interesting, or collectable. The store carries a selection of gift items as well.

“We mainly do home décor and furnishings, accessories, pillows, clothing, jackets, sweaters, purses, anything fun that people like to shop for,” Jessee said. “We do it all.”

Prices range from around $6 for smaller items up to around $250 to $350 or higher for larger items, such as furniture.

onefourseven on Toledo carries merchandise from about 40 consignors. Most of the consignors come from Lenawee County, but she has a few that come from Toledo and the Upper Peninsula as well. Jessee accepts consignments through her onefourseven on Toledo page on Facebook. Anyone who has items they want to have considered for consignment can send photos and message her through the Facebook page. She looks at the items to make sure that they fit in with “the vibe of the store.” She also considers what is going on seasonally, and if she has room for the item in the store. She added that she is “quick to answer.”

The store is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., and on Saturday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.
