ADRIAN — The Weber Retreat and Conference Center will continue its Lunch and Learn series in the new year, with topics ranging from herbs and gardening to the experience of teaching in a correctional facility.
The Lunch and Learn series is offered one Wednesday per month from 12:15 to 1 p.m. at the Weber Center on the Adrian Dominican Sisters campus.
Upcoming topics are:
— The Secret Success of Herbs: January 10. Angie Pietraszewski, a registered nurse and the owner of the Lavender and Honey Apothecary, will speak about taking charge of your health with local herbs and the natural world.
— A View from Inside the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility: February 7. A panel of three guests will speak of their experience addressing criminal justice concerns and teaching inmates at the Gus Harrison Correctional Facility in Adrian.
— What’s New at Hidden Lake Gardens: March 13. Paul Pfeifer, managing director, will share news from the 775-acre botanical garden near Tipton.
— Let’s Get Ready for Spring: April 17. Mike Walters, permaculture specialist for the Adrian Dominican Sisters, will shares tips on soil preparation, when to start planting, and secrets to a good harvest.
Attendees are welcome to bring their own lunch, or can purchase a box lunch for $7. The box lunch options are egg salad, turkey salad, or chicken salad croissant sandwiches with chips. Drinks and dessert are provided for everyone.
