ADRIAN — Protests in Adrian and Tecumseh were among more than 3,000 demonstrations nationwide by opponents of the Trump administration on March 28.

It was the third in a series of “No Kings” protests focusing on authoritarianism, with previous demonstrations taking place last year on June 14 and Oct. 18.

In Adrian, demonstrators with signs and flags lined West Maumee Street and Church Street along the edge of Comstock Park.

“President Trump acts like he’s a king now,” stated Denise Benjamin of Blissfield, one of the local protest’s organizers. “He’s brought us into a war without congressional approval and ripped away healthcare for millions. His agents have killed people right before our eyes on the streets and torn apart families. People need to be aware that their rights are being taken away so we can turn this around.”

Among the protesters were three people dressed as the Tin Man, Scarecrow and Cowardly Lion from “The Wizard of Oz,” with signs reading “ICE has no heart,” “Trump has no brain,” and “GOP has no courage.”

The Adrian demonstration was followed by another in Tecumseh.
